Farmland is flooded throughout Togo. Famine is inevitable.

The heavy Autumn rains that pummeled West African nations have left an extensive disaster zone in their wake. Severe floods have destroyed thousands of homes, livestock and acres of crops.
Togo, one of the world’s poorest countries, is among the nations hit hardest by the floods. The Togolese now face starvation following the devastation. More than 20,000 were left homeless.
Disease is also a looming threat, as water reserves were contaminated, increasing the risk of diseases such as cholera and dysentery. The flooding has also created breeding grounds for mosquitoes, and consequently the threat of widespread malaria.
Christopher Djatta, leader of Warriors for Christ ministry in Togo, has used funds sent from Christian Aid to buy food for his gospel coworkers in preparation for the coming famine. He reports that it is a good time to buy food, as prices have not yet risen.

Christopher asks for the prayers and support of fellow believers as WFC faces a difficult year ahead. He hopes to continue his ministry of caring for orphans, discipling new believers, training native missionaries and evangelizing the Muslim population in Togo.
WFC has planned a conference for Muslim-background believers on how to reach the Islamic population for Christ. More than 2,000 people plan to attend. Christopher believes this meeting could mark the beginning of revival in his nation. He is praying for the means to host this conference despite the hardship created by the floods.
